Nonviolence demands that we protect the vulnerable while also keeping the door open for the oppressor to return to their own humanity—when, and if, they are ready.
This is the courage of fierce vulnerability:
to stand firm in truth without abandoning compassion,
to resist harm without becoming the harm,
to intervene while still believing in the possibility of collective healing.
